A year ago, we featured on the back cover of the magazine a photo of a ‘Recycled Rover’ at the MAD Museum in Stratford upon Avon.
‘Recycled Rover’ includes pieces from a VW Beetle engine, a copper hot water cylinder and furniture castors amongst other things.
We are planning to visit the museum and spend time in Stratford upon Avon on Sunday 29 March.
If you would like to join us, please meet at the ‘Free Car Park Stratford’ just off the A439 Warwick Road, CV39 0NP at 10.00am.
It is a 20 minute walk along the River Avon into Stratford.
We will visit the museum first then there will be time to see the sights and shops.
The MAD Museum has interactive pieces of mechanical art, in particular; kinetic art and automata. If you’re not quite sure what mechanical art is all about, think of the machines and gizmos used in Wallace and Gromit, Scrapheap Challenge and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. In a nutshell, mechanical art is usually beautifully crafted, moving sculptures either made to have an exaggerated purpose or made simply for the fun of it.
